How Spirit Sings CD RELEASE SEPTEMBER 2010 |
How Spirit Sings is a collection
of the songs written when I was living in Texas and a bit in Iowa,
writing songs for church services where I was hired to sing. The
minister provided the topic of the talk for that Sunday, and God
provided a song to seamlessly tie the music to the message. Faith took
over and I was out of the way for most of the writing of these songs, as
well as the initial performances! Sometimes I was writing the songs
while the minister was talking, knowing I was expected to get up there
in a few minutes and sing the words I was furiously scribbling on the
side of the bulletin insert!! Inspired, wonderful times. Please join us
in our travels and pick up your copy - great gifts to yourself and your
loved ones!
There is one gorgeous "cover" song on the CD, "A
Night Full of Talking" by Michael Green of the Illumination Band.
Michael took a beloved Rumi poem and, with his talented musical friends,
created a stunning, heart-driven piece bringing home the all-pervasive
importance of love, and loving one another. Yay Michael! Check out the
Illuminate Rumi- ONE SONG, treating yourself to a lush and moving visual
& auditory spiritual experience. I believe Amazon.com can help...
:-)
Our super duper extreme and heart-felt thanks to everyone who
made this project happen: Ken and Ann in Bertram for hours of recording
in a variety of circumstances, for taking such great photos, and for
months of putting up with us in their studios and home; to the Unity
Center of Cedar Rapids and the Unity Church of Lawrence KS; love to Rev.
Brenda Ehret for "Jesus help" on Look Inside, and spiritual guidance;
to Phoenix for her willpower to push through brain injury-land and keep
working to make this recording a part of her life. You are truly and
deeply an astonishing woman, and I am grateful to know you. To all the
players - you are in our favor and our hearts forever! Dennis McMurrin -
all I can say is DUDE!!! Wow... you really are an Iowa treasure. To
Jesse Luke - such an amazing old cello in such sensitive and gifted
young hands... you are welcome on any project of mine, anytime. To Nina
Swanson - the piano part on "Raise Me" is perfect. We love and bless
you! And finally to Cindy Novelo, who left our sessions to walk into a
mondo health challenge that, upon reflection, made our time recording
those lilting viola lines all the more precious. Such a beautiful soul,
we cant wait to play with you in Lawrence next month. xoxox, SB and PJ
